Château Cramirat Collection

From our Château Cramirat collection, we are happy to share more waggish toys by legendary Czech designer Libuše Niklová.

Niklová’s genius was in how she elevated a child’s functional object to art. Using plastic as a novel and relatively cheap material, she balanced shape, color, and even smell and sound, making each piece remarkably endearing and easily available to parents in 1960s Czechoslovakia.

Her approach saw each of her inventive toys as a tool for advancing a child’s personality, empowering them through creative play. Knowing children learn about the world through toys, she folded into her designs a good dose of amusement, curiosity, surprise, and pleasure.

The Château Cramirat Collection is a treasure trove of art and design housed in a 12th-century Templar landmark in the Valley of Mankind, Périgord, France.
